In light of COVID-19, we have to do church a little differently. While our vision of Knowing God and making Him known stays the same, the way we meet needs to change for a bit. Here’s how it will affect the ways we usually meet together:
The Sunday Scrum
During this time, although we’re unable to physically congregate, that doesn’t mean we won’t be meeting. Join us online at 09:30 on Sunday mornings The Sunday Scrum. We’ll be streaming the morning including announcements, worship and the preached word through Youtube (Don’t forget to subscribe to our channel!)
There is so much value in checking in at 09:30 with the rest of the community, but if this is not possible, then the video will be made available by 11:30 on on the following platforms:
Following the preach, we encourage you to share communion, pray and chat together over coffee and tea, as you would on a regular Sunday morning.
Regardless of the situation we find ourselves in, it remains one of a parent’s primary responsibilities before God to disciple their children in the likeness of Christ.
What an incredible opportunity parents now have to do this with perhaps more personal interactions with their kids than ever! Parents – let’s not look at our children as obstacles to working from home, but rather look at this time as a God-given opportunity to intentionally disciple them towards Jesus.
On Sundays, we have curriculum available for all children from 2 years through grade 9. This curriculum will also include conversation starters and tips for parents to engage with their kids on the different topics throughout the week. We are excited to hear stories of God using these moments between parents and their children.
Parents of children up to grade 5 will be acting as their child’s “Sunday School” teacher. We would encourage you to take 20 minutes to watch the video and read the parent guide, so that you can engage deeply with your children in this.
Grade 6 – 12 will have their own Sunday morning video meet ups.
Please see the relevant resources below relevant for this Sunday:

There’s no doubt that as believers, right now we need to be more serious about prayer than ever before. The Word says that when two or more gather in His name, He is there with them (Matthew 18:20). Meet together physically in your families and virtually with the broader NewGen community.
Prayer meetings are held on Monday to Friday from 18:00 – 18:40.
To join us, please download the free Zoom app on your smartphone or computer and contact Sandie Whindus on 082 411 0260 who will give you the relevant Zoom meeting details.
While our Life Groups aren’t able to meet physically at this time, Life Group meetings will still take place virtually through Google Hangouts or Zoom at the usual time. You can download both these apps on your smartphone or computer or just use a browser for Google Hangouts. Your Life Group leader will send out a meeting link ahead of your normal meeting time. Life Group leaders you can click here for a step by step guide of how to set up a zoom group.
If you are not currently part of a Life Group, please contact the office and we will link you up with a group.
You can help!
While most of us are not positioned to offer medical assistance or other essential services, there are two major practical ways we can contribute during this time.
Feed the poor
The first is to contribute financially towards feeding those left in dire straits by the shut down.
Donations to the 245 Fund are used to make up food parcels for those who need them most during this time. Working with a dietician, we’ve been able to create nutritious food baskets at the cost of R100 per person per week. Every contribution helps us to feed more people.

Sew face masks
The second way you can help is by sewing face masks which offer some measure of protection for those working on the frontlines of the epidemic. As you may be aware, there is a severe shortage of masks and medical professionals have asked us to help in this way. If you have a sewing machine, you can help.

This is a lot of change, but God is not surprised and He is still on his throne! We have already been hearing how God is moving through our people in different ways! If you have a story of God’s grace to share, please do so by contacting us!
